Andrés Cruz is a Principal Software Engineer at Comet with more than 15 years of experience building large-scale, high-traffic systems across the internet, blockchain, and telecom industries. At Comet, he has been involved in the architecture, system design, and implementation of Opik — Comet's open-source LLM observability and evaluation platform — from its very beginning to today, helping shape how teams trace, analyze, and evaluate LLM and agentic applications in production. Before Comet, Andrés led globally distributed, cross-functional engineering teams at top-tier companies including Amazon (Alexa & Dash), Udemy, Circle, and Ericsson, giving him deep expertise in designing resilient, massive-scale architectures. He is a recognized AWS expert and a passionate advocate for Agile methodologies, with a versatile full-stack background spanning backend, frontend, and mobile development in Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, and C/C++. A hands-on engineer, Andrés favors architectural blueprints, live code, and production-grade lessons. His focus is on scaling infrastructure, building high-performing teams, and making LLM systems observable, reliable, and measurable at scale.
