Marius Hobbhahn is an AI safety researcher and entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and CEO of Apollo Research , a nonprofit focused on evaluating dangerous capabilities in frontier AI systems — especially deception, scheming, alignment failures, and situational awareness in advanced models. He previously worked at Epoch AI as a research fellow studying AI progress forecasting and scaling trends. His background is in machine learning and philosophy of science, with studies at the University of Tübingen. Apollo Research became widely known for red-team evaluations of frontier models from labs such as OpenAI and Anthropic, especially around whether models can strategically deceive humans.
